Les Moulins Mahjoub Organic Sundried Garlic Spread
This product is one of the most labor intensive the Mahjoub family makes. They carefully dry organic garlic cloves grown on their farm in Tunisia and then blend them with their own extra virgin olive oil. The drying actually takes place in the shade as the desert heat is too intense for full sun. The resulting spread—made with no artificial anything, like all Mahjoub condiments—will blow your mind. Not spicy or pungent like raw garlic, this stuff is mellow, sweet and deliciously aromatic. Spoon it on your salad or in almost any side dish that might need a little life. Spoon into rice, cous cous or pasta. This stuff is so versatile it will easily be your new favorite item from the refrige.
Put it this way, I threw it on some pizza the other night when my brother in law stopped by. He is not a foodie by any means, but kept reaching for the jar time and time again after I secretly put some on his first slice. He kept chewing and making these “oh my goodness” blurbs (I could barely understand him with a full mouth) while staring in bewilderment at this little jar and how good it was.
