Les Moulins Mahjoub: Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Les Moulins has created a smart, sophisticated and delicious line of condiments out of Tunisia.  When I bumped into the very humble Abdelmamajid Mahjoub at the Fancy Food show in NYC recently we discussed what makes his products so incredible.  In very broken English he was extremely emphatic that what makes their products so good is the short time between the farm and the bottle.

Their extra virgin olive oil is no exception.  Using age old small batch techniques of picking olives at their absolute peak of flavor and then extracting the oil without fancy centrifuge or filtration techniques, this amazing oil tends to take on the natural elements of climate and soil each vintage year.  It’s got a cloudy consistency and an incredibly crisp and clean taste that clearly comes from the rigorous mantra of farm to bottle as fast as possible.  It’s smooth and fruity with hint of pepper at the end.  Plus, it’s USDA certified organic.

When Amelia brought this oil in a few months ago, I knew it would be good but not this good.   You will not be disappointed.
