Blind Betty Hot Sauces
Years ago a friend of mine visited St. John’s and brought me back a bottle of hot sauce. WOW. It was amazing. What was it about this stuff? For years, I could not quite put my finger on it.
But now I have it…thanks to one of our favorite customers, Fred, who lives down the street. If Fred could own stock in Blind Betty, he would. As he described it to me, it’s the pumpkin, soy, worcstershire, habranero pepper combo that provides a zippy, very savory, very—shall we say, Caribbean flavor. Truly, it’s one of the most unique hot sauces he’s tried. Ditto here.
For everyday use, I prefer the Pineapple Pizzazz which is a tad sweeter, less hot, but still packs a whollop in flavor. But Original Betty is not overly hot either, FYI. It’s about a 7 on a scale of one to ten.
Pineapple Pizzazz Ingredients: Pineapple, onion, habranero peppers, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, spices. Original Betty ingredients: Pumpkin, apple juice, tomato juice, carrots, onions, habranero peppers, soy sauce, worcstershire, lemon juice, garlic, spices.

Fred's Steaks
Equal parts of Blind Betty Original or Blind Betty Pineapple Pizzazz, EVOO and a jerk seasoning—Fred uses Busha Browns Jerk—a great product.
Fred recommends: 2 tablespoons of Jerk, 2 tablespoons of either Blind Betty, 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil.
Mix together and let sit for 15 minutes. Pour over 4 New York Strips in a zip lock baggie and let sit another 30 minutes or so. Grill to liking.
For less heat, use Pizzazz, for more heat, use Original.
