The Chocoholic Gift Box

We define “Chocoholic” as a person with an insatiable love for all things chocolate; who has stashes of chocolate around the house, in the car, and at work; and who believes there is no other substance on earth that touches chocolate’s supremacy over all the other foods. Yet Chocoholics also have high standards, not settling for a lowly Hershey Bar unless it’s an emergency (i.e., they’re out of their regular chocolate). Sound like anyone you know?

We’ve put together a special box for these poor people. In it, we’ve combined our favorite chocolate items in a half-dozen forms. From Taza Organic Chocolates in Massachusetts, we selected a Dark Chocolate Bar and a Mexican Chocolate Disk for grating.  From Vermont’s Silly Cow we added a glass “milk bottle” of their Chocolate-Chocolate Hot Chocolate mix.  John Kelly’s Truffle Fudge Bites topped with Sea Salt are our pick from Los Angeles; Berkshire Bark’s Midnight Harvest Bar (packed with almonds, hazelnuts, dried cranberries and orange zest) comes to us from western Mass.; and Nutty Steph’s Magic Chunks (fantastic, nutty granola coated in dark Ecuadoran chocolate) comes from Middlesex, Vt.

Does this mean we are enabling Chocoholics, allowing them to perpetuate their behavior? I’d have to plead guilty to that. However, this box may open the door to an Intervention. After all, if you can get them to share the contents with you, you’ll have helped them to take the First Step.

• Stonewall Kitchen Desert Sauce—Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Sauce
