Villa Reale Pepperoncino Intero in Olio — Hot Peppers in Oil

What kind of hot peppers, you wonder?  Me too.  They are small, plump, bright red, with stems attached and intact, seasoned only with salt and preserved in olive oil.  And they are hot.  I mean, I like spicy foods, but these were too much for me right out of the jar.  So I threw a couple in with the broccoli raab I sautéed last night, and was pleased with the heat they lent the dish: a backbeat to the garlic, oil, and bitterness of the greens.  They’d be a great addition to a marinara or puttanesca sauce too.  We import these directly from Italy.  What a great find!
