Nutty Steph’s Granola is special to begin with. Made from thick rolled oats and supplemented with almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and dark Vermont maple syrup, it is so good it seems like it has to be bad for you. 

To make her Magic Chunks, Nutty Steph’s founder, Jaqueline Rieke, blends her granola with Ecuadoran Single-Origin shade-grown 71% Arriba chocolate from a farmer cooperative (that’s dark chocolate, to you and me), lets it solidify, then cuts it into 1 inch square pieces. The result is a snack that is chewy from the oats, crunchy with roasted nuts, sweet from the maple syrup and rich from the chocolate. These are little bursts of energy, disguised as a decadent treat.

I adore Nutty Steph’s Magic Chunks. There is nothing quite like them. I feel great about them too—knowing that they are made by a small Vermont company that is dedicated to their product, their principles and their people. (They are all a little nutty, too—they make their small store space into a bar once a week for Bacon Thursdays, where they feature a smorgasbord of cooked bacon strips and pots of melted chocolate to dip them in as bar snacks to go with your drink.
