Unbelievable! These are more works of art than cookies. Don’t get me wrong—the gingerbread is outstanding too but to eat this great work of art just makes me sick with guilt…it’s that gorgeous.

Vera Lashway, the creator of such amazing food art, runs Breni Bakery over in Rutland with her husband Don.  When Don contacted me this Christmas with an idea of us selling his wife’s cookies I had no idea what I was signing up for.  I thought handmade gingerbread.  Instead, we got amazing works of art.  You have to check out the detail on these.  Simply incredible.  

And to boot, Vera is from the Czech Republic—my mother’s native land and Mom and Vera now have a special Eastern European bond,  babbling away in Czech every time they see one another.  Being a second generation Czech perhaps Czech lessons should be in my future.
